52 Ancestors: #1 - Why Accept the Challenge?

Several weeks ago Amy Johnson Crow of No Story Too Small blog issued the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks challenge.

As you can see, I am a little late to the party. I took an extended break from research over the holiday season. Thank you to Amy, for supplying a great way to get back into the genealogy saddle.

Why accept the challenge? This is a lovely way to share our family history and possibly discover a new cousin.

What do I hope to accomplish with these posts? To understand our ancestors in a more personal way. Not just when born, died and buried. Make them come to life for anyone reading the blog.

Ultimate goal is to create a lasting piece of family history for my grandchildren. With that in mind, I will post about the entire extended family. Included will be my husband, son-in-law and daughter-in-law.

When the challenge ends? I plan to create a booklet with all the wonderful family stories.

Yes folks, I am so excited!

  1. I am late to the party too! I will start this week.

  2. Yvette,

Looking forward to following your posts!

  3. Deb, what a great idea for the posts! I had not thought of doing anything with them when the challenge was over. I, too, am including ancestors of my brothers wives. This idea will make me rethink some of the people I'd planned to write about. But I just love your idea. Thank you!
