This headstone is located in Warren Center Cemetery, Warren, Litchfield County, Connecticut. The children listed were my husband's 3rd great grand-uncle and 3rd great-grand aunts. A Find A Grave angel, Terry Goodwin, obtained the photograph for our family.

How sad it must have been for Platt and Lucinda Finney Starr to bury so many of their children. The"infant" epitaph really makes the heart ache for these ancestors.

  1. Oh so sad. Did any of the Starr family's kids survive? (And let me add my thanks to Find A Grave angels who have helped me in the past!)

    1. Marian,

Yes there were seven surviving children, including my husband's 3rd great-grandfather. He was another Ezra Platt Starr, named after the child who died. That threw me off the track for a little bit!

  2. Such a sad loss for the family. I am so thankful for the few photos I have found on findagrave of my ancestors, especially those that I know I will never get to see in person.

    1. Terri,

Don't know what I would do without those wonderful genealogy angels! Have photos from as far away as Paris thanks to these amazing folks!

  3. Oh how sad! Those poor grieving parents.

I too am grateful to those Find A Grave photo volunteers. They really are angels.

    1. I felt my tummy drop seeing this one. Brings home the reality of how difficult life was for our early ancestors.

  4. What a poignant epitaph! This is a very special tombstone.

  5. Heather,

So very true. Each time I look at this photo I'm reminded how far we have come since those early immigrant days.
