Surname Saturday - Czarnecki Homeland

In several posts I shared the quest to locate my Czarnecki family line. With the help of a Petition For Naturalization and JewishGen we located the exact birthplace for my great grandfather.

Adam Czarnecki was born 1866 in a town called Raczki and immigrated to the United States in 1891. During the time of his birth the area was considered part of the Russian Empire. As I am not familiar with the region I have spent time learning about their politics, religion, and historical events.

Recently while searching I discovered a wonderful resource on RootsWeb. A fellow researcher had created an entire site dedicated to sharing history, photographs, and links for Raczki.

Thanks to this site we have a fascinating view into the life of our Czarnecki ancestors.
