Shopping Saturday - Going to the Market

One of my mother's favorite adventures growing up in Baltimore was visiting the downtown markets. Mom tells stories of the wonderful sights, smells, and sounds surrounding many blocks of the city. Farmers and dairymen would fill the area with fresh produce and meats every Saturday morning.

Here is a description of Baltimore's markets taken from "National Star-Spangled Banner Centennial: Baltimore, Maryland September 6 to 13 1914":

Noted here is Lexington Market established in 1782, and one of the world's longest continuously running markets.
