Treasure Chest Thursday - Civil War Photograph

This treasure came from another newly acquired cousin. I have posted several times about connecting with cousin Steve through Ancestry. Little did I know this simple act of reaching out to a fellow genealogist would uncover so much family history.

Several days ago I received an email from Steve stating he contacted another possible relation living in Texas. Attached to the email were several photographs that could possibly be in reference to my 2nd great grand uncle, Charles Judd.

There were four photographs in all, two of a gentleman in his Civil War uniform, and two were his bible with inscription. You can't imagine my excitement when reading the screen and realizing this was indeed our Charles Judd!

Now Dee (still trying figure out exact relation) in Texas and I are communicating about shared heritage. She even made a list of names for our new family team. She has suggested "purveyors of the past", "missing linkers" or, "tree branchers".

Dee is a self titled "junky" for genealogy. How fortunate to find another family member that shares this passion and is willing to give open access to her records.

So on this Treasure Chest Thursday I wish to thank Steve & Dee, our families genealogy angels.

  1. Deb - I enjoyed reading about how you obtained this wonderful photo. It is an encouragement to reach out and makes as many contacts as possible. You never know where they will lead you. What a great picture.

  2. Debbie,

Thanks for the comment! It was amazing to connect with both these lines of the family.
