Recently I have started to follow several historical and genealogical society blogs. Most of these blogs have information about local history, upcoming events, and links to other useful websites. What has been most useful is that I don't have to travel to the particular area to garner information about ancestors that have settled in these states. Especially with some being a considerable distance from our home.
AHA Today Blog: American Historical Association
The Beehive: official blog of the Massachusetts Historical Society
The Brooklyn Historical Society Blog
California Genealogical Society & Library Blog
Cape Cod Genealogical Society: Barnstable County, Massachusetts
Eastern Washington Genealogical Society Blog: genealogical news from Spokane, Washington, USA, and the Inland Northwest
The Historical Society: a blog devoted to history for the academy & beyond
History Burgoo: a mix of history, culture and other ingredients, presented by the Kentucky Historical Society
Illinois State Genealogical State Blog
Indiana Genealogical Society Blog
Indiana Historical Society Blog
Minnesota Historical Press 10,000 Books
MoSGA Messenger: the official weblog of the Missouri State Genealogical Association
Ohio Historical Society Collections Blog
Ontario Genealogical Society Blog
Virginia Historical Society's Blog
Lastly the Genealogy Blog Finder is a useful tool in locating many types of genealogy blogs.
Discover if there are historical or genealogical society blogs where you are researching.
