This past September I attended my first Family History Workshop. To say the experience was amazing would be an understatement! Meeting fellow genealogists from different areas of the state, with wide ranging degrees of experience. Almost could not sleep the night before, just like a little one in anticipation of Christmas morning.
We began the day with our keynote speaker Dr. Gregory A. Prince, giving a presentation about preservation of oral histories. It was a perfect way to start the day hearing excerpts from his family members relating their memories.
All the speakers were extremely knowledgeable, and helpful with answering questions at the end of each session. Several of the workshops we attended were:
"Creating an Effective Research Plan" and "Accessing Records of the National Archives" presented by Angela Parker McGhie.
"Researching Online at the Maryland State Archives Website" presented by Michael Hait.
We can't wait for the next workshop! In fact we have even thought about traveling to other states!
