Surname Saturday - Czarnecki Homeland!

Finally another part of the Czarnecki line coming into view!

Today I was talking to a more experienced genealogy friend about the difficulty locating the town where my great-grandfather originated. As stated in an earlier post the naturalization papers listed Russia. We have always been under the impression he was born in Poland. Ann suggested that I search the database JewishGen.

This is where I found the JewishGen ShtetlSeeker :

a database containing the names of all localities in the 45 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. The data is based on the U.S. Board on Geographic Names databases.

I entered the town name of Raczki resulting in many helpful links. Another piece of the puzzle!

Thanks, Ann!
